Digg the Design: Music Sites that Stands out

Web designers, Doctor, Engineers, Bus Drivers and etc no matter what you are, everyone likes music. Music is an universal language. This week’s web sites review I have decided to review/share music sites that has good interface, user intuitive and easy to use. Some of the sites you might already know. One thing to note most of this are flash based. I tired to test to couple of them using IE tester and it just froze ( Another reason to Dump IE 6). I am not going to talk about Lastfm, Imeem or Pandora because they are mainstream music sites. I always look for free ans alternatives. Let me stop the word of wisdom’s and get to the sites.
GrooveShark
I found grooveshark couple of months ago. I was trying to find a site to share music online and I found Grooveshark. This is a P2P service. You can share any kind of music with your friends. This sites had little Java application that allows to upload songs.
The site has a really nice interface. You can sign up and create a playlist, share your playlist. It has big search box where you can just type in artist’s or band name and listen to them. Below the search box there are nice 5 big icons that gives you other ways to find music. I really like popular browsing tab/icon, it shows what music is hot right now. The little music player at bottom is really user friendly too. The cool thing about this site is that ,its is a music site and and community site as well. You can browse people’s music library and add them your favorite. If you have not tried to give grooveshark a try, you won’t be disappointed.
Justheartit
Another flash based awesome music site. The name says it all. If you and your buddies hanging out and you want listen to some songs online look no further. The feature that makes Justhearit stand out from other sites is that you can search for any songs on the web, it will even search youtube.
I really like the Dark Layout of the site. It has a music player on the side, you can drag any songs there to play and to create to a playlist. You don’t need to sign up to listen to music, but if you do sign up, you can save your playlist and more options. Check it out.
Seeqpod
Seeqpod is another site that you can search songs and play. This site has a simple design, pretty straight forward, flash based.
SeeqPod is the most satisfying way to find, play, and enjoy playable Web content. In less than two years, we have created a totally unique, easy-to-use search experience that appeals to millions. From video to audio, slideshows, and Adobe Flash, the vast multitude of rich media files and applications that exist online can now easily be found and played using the Adobe Flash Player at SeeqPod.com.
Lala
I think it took me about 10 seconds to play a song. This site is really really fast. The song plays on the tops of the page in a nicely designed transparent music player. They have a huge collection of music too. The blueish with mix of grey and white template is make this site an eye candy. I would have to say this is my favorite site so far. You can listen song for once free and for 10 cent you get unlimited play.

- Hypem : Nice design , but did not find it easy to navigate.
- Finetune: Dark color design with cool icons. Play random songs. I like the transprant music player.
