These are questions mostly googled by the windows users when they run into these problems . There are lots of virus, spywares, malwares for windows computer floating around the web just to infect your computer. Sometimes even if you go to some websites they leave unwanted cookies in your computer. And then you got those bloatwares that are no good. Some of the spyware installs itself and you can not remove it. So here are the free software that you need download if you run into any of theses problems. I can personally vouch for them because I have used these softwares numerous times when giving tech support family and friends.

First thing you need to do is install a  good anti-virus software. Forgot Norton and McAfee. Make sure, you download the recommend one. There are some spyware that claims to be an anti-virus software and infects your computer.

Anti-Virus

1. Avast: One of the best free anti-virus software out there. It updates itself regulary. You need register and they will email you the free key for software right away. I have been using for a while and like it a lot.  It alerts if any malware/spyware/viruses found.

2. AVG: I have not personally tested AVG, but it got good reviews. It gives you free basic protection.

3. Avira AntiVir Personal : Another free anti-virus that runs great and got good reviews from Download.com

4. Panda Cloud : A new useful and effective anti-virus software.

Spyware/Malware/Spam :

1. Spybot : Spybot scans you computer thoroughly from any malware/spyware/spam. If you enable resident protection it asks for conformation if any start-up program is being changed by any spyware. I like spybot a lot.

2.  Spyblaser : Prevent the installation of spyware and other potentially unwanted software! It protects you from those porn, spam websites from leaving cookies in your computer.

3. SUPERAntispyware: This is a must have anti- spyware software.  “It deletes Spyware, Adware, Malware, Trojans, Dialers, Worms, KeyLoggers, HiJackers, Parasites, Rootkits and many other types of threats.”

4. Ad-Aware 2008:  “Protect yourself against identity theft, online fraud, and other cyber crimes with the world’s most popular anti-spyware.”

Registry protect:

“The Windows registry is a directory which stores settings and options for the operating system for Microsoft Windows”

Basically if our computer gets messed when the default windows registry is changed such as you can not change your IE homepage or you can not change your desktop background.

Free Window Registry Repair: This program will detect if any default registry has been changed and will fix it.
2. Registry Mechanic : “Registry Mechanic is an advanced registry cleaner for Windows that allows you to safely scan, clean, and repair registry problems with a few simple mouse clicks.”

Eusing Free Registry Cleaner : One of the top 5 registry cleaner for windows. Recommend it.

Remove Unwanted Programs:

Sometime there are some software, that just won’t uninstall from windows built in “Add Remove program” options. Even if they uninstall they will leave unwanted registry keys, folders in your computer. That’s when these programs comes in handy.

1. CCleaner : Must have software.

” It removes unused files from your system – allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history.”

2. Revo Uninstaller :Remove those unwanted hard uninstall programs
