5 Mozilla Labs Projects You Might Want to Know About
Mozilla is the innovative foundation that bought us useful applications like Firefox, Thunderbird, SeaMonkey and many more. If you thought these are the only applications from Mozilla, you will be surprised to know they got some more cool application cooking up in their labs. Here are 5 worthwhile Mozilla projects that we came across, that you might find useful.
1. Prism
Let’s face it, it is the age of the web apps. Everyday we find ourselves using numerous web apps. Would not it be wonderful if we can just turn our favorite web app into a desktop app? Look no further , Prism is here to help. Prism lets you run web app in their own window just like normal applications. You can download the Firefox add-on or the standalone application.
When you start the prism you will see the above window and you fill the information o about your favorite web app such as Gmail, Facebook and your set! You can create a shortcut icon on your desktop or application/start menu for easy access.
2. Contacts
The Contacts add-on integrates with local and web-based address books to bring all of a user’s contact data into a single database. You can connect and import your Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, Yahoo, Plaxo, Linkdlen.
After you install Contacts, it runs right on your Firefox. Easily search and browse your contacts in the browser.
3. JetPack
If you are someone who is passionate about Firefox add-ons this a must check out project. JetPack is a project that lets web developers to create firefox add-ons using the common web technologies (HTML, Javascript, and CSS). The add-ons can run in Firefox, Firefox Mobile, and as stand-alone application. If you want to use Jetpack you must have Python installed and Firefox obviously. It is easy debug and test your add-ons using Jetpack because of the extensible code library and the instant save-refresh development cycle. You can install Jetpack addon from here . 4. Bespin
Bespin is web-based code editor that supports HTML5 standards. Point your browser to Mozilla host Bespin (https://bespin.mozillalabs.com/) website to test Bespin and start coding. You need to have an account when you first launch Bespin, which can be done in 10 seconds. Following is a screenshot of how it looks like.

5.Weave
You bookmarked a website on your desktop firefox, but you are on the go and you need to visit that website. Darn! If only there was a way. If want seamless browsing experience between your mobile and desktop device then Weave will help to do that. When you switch between your mobile device and desktop Firefox browser your history, open tabs, bookmarks, the Awesome Bar will be synced by Weave.
As of now Weave provides continuous synchronization of your bookmarks, browsing history, saved passwords and tabs.
