Dropbox is everyone’s favorite cloud file storing and sharing app. It is really useful and well known because it syncs your files online and across your computers automatically. Sharing Your Work (Screenshots, Layouts)

As designer, we are always in need to share our work such as:  PSD, mock-ups with clients, co-workers, teams. With dropbox, it is really easy to share anything with anybody because of the way it works. You just simple copy whatever file you want to share to your public folder and send the link anyone. Moreover, they do not even have to be a Dropbox user. There is no going on the web, logging on every time you want to share a file. Dropbox also allows you to share a whole folder. You can go to Select Dropbox > Share This Folder…. This will send you to the sharing page on the Dropbox website, where you can enter the email of the recipient.

Storing Materials for Blog Post

This tip applies if your a blogger and you always need some files . Let me explain this is in detail. I have a folder called Post in my Dropbox. I have couple of files in there such as : a post thumbnail template, guest post requirement and more. I am not always on home computer but I need to publish a new post from work computer or a different location. However, it does not matter where I am, I still have a quick access to these files I use almost use everyday and they are always updated, regardless of the location.

Hosting a Website Using Dropbox

Well if you are a professional web designer, it most likely you are not going to host your website on dropbox. However, not everyone is a web designer. If your an art student who needs a quick online portfolio without the need for a server or blogger who needs sends a quick HTML CSV, Dropbox is a perfect solution.
As dropbox wiki explains, “You are limited to client side scripts and HTML since Dropbox cannot run any server side stuff.” What this means you cannot run PHP or other scripting language that needs to hosted on the server. Receiving Files from People

It is great that you can send files easily to anyone. However, what if you needed to get a PSD/AI file from a client or a blog post from a fellow blogger. You  can do that by using DROPitTOme. It is a dropbox app easily receive big files from anyone with an unique upload address and password protection.

You can also go beyond this by using JotForm’s dropbox service that allows you create a contact from with file upload option.

The files gets sent to folder named Jotform in your Dropbox and you can access the information in your JotForm account . Simple as that.

Nowadays we all carry around smart phone and it is really vital that we can access our file using these smart phones. There are couple of  well known app for Dropbox that we can use on your mobile phone such as Offical Dropbox app for iPhone , iPad, Android and Windows Mobile (unofficial).
